Show something stupid and hope for attention

It's quite difficult to stand out when it comes to developing an unusual and innovative campaign for promoting mobile phones. Nokia has made a desperate attempt and scream for attention with the N95 and Nseries one.

The campaign mostly relies on the jealouscomputers.com website, where it is seen as "a global warning". Computers are attacking their users, because of jealousy over the fact that they are now paying attention to their Nokia N95 handsets much more than they are for them. It's a simple and old concept for advertising a new product by comparing it to another.

Still, Nokia N95 is only a mobile phone, far from the performances of a computer. The fact that attacks usually come from laptops makes it even more difficult to accept. Mobile phones hold nothing more over a laptop, but the fact that it can place calls and you don't need a Nokia Nseries phone for that. They are both highly mobile devices and the laptop also comes with a considerably larger screen and easier to use keyboard.

The impressive thing about this website is the fact that the developers have thought of almost any aspect that a real "plague" would have caused. We have testimonies from victims of the computer attacks and shocking footages, all probably resembling a bit too much with real ones. The images show injuries perfectly created as to look as real as possible.

We even have the "safety tips" category, which shows phone owners how to deal with jealous computers at home and at the office. One interesting thing is that Nokia also makes it possible for N95 users to post their own stories on how computers have attacked them because of extreme jealousy.

The jealouscomputers campaign has been developed by HeCoVoG. It must have been quite fun for them to develop such a stupid campaign, although it's way too absurd for receiving appreciation from many people. The shock and interest over the weird concept will probably make the word get around.
