While some European customers can already enjoy using the
Nokia N95, that has recently become available in shops from Europe, Nokia has announced during CTIA that the cutting-edge handset will soon arrive in the US as well.
The N95 is one of the Finish mobile phone manufacturer's best devices so far, including a 5 megapixel camera , GPS capabilities, WiFi, Universal Plug and Play, TV-out port, FM Radio, 160MB internal memory
and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. It can be successfully used to replace a standalone digital camera, for listening to music, web browsing, navigation and more.
The Symbian OS it runs will allow personalization and the download and use of a wide variety of applications, games or other content. Users won't have to give up their favorite speakers as the handset also includes a 3.5 mm audio connector. Finally, its 2-way slide design doesn't look bad at all and according to Nokia the user will be able to switch between different modes conveniently with just a simple slide.
The US N95 comes exactly with the same features as the European one and will work on T-Mobile and
Cingular/At&t's EDGE networks, but will unfortunately not be usable for accessing higher-speed HSDPA networks. It will become available in the US during the second quarter of the year.
Nokia has also announced that it will be offering the N95 directly through its website. This will be great for some, while awful for others, because although it doesn't tie the user down to any wireless carrier, as it is unlocked, it will 'sport' a rather high price tag of around $500-$600.
