Wireless carrier T-Mobile USA is reportedly preparing something new for its users, a secret project that voices over the Internet called either “Project Dark” or “Project Black.” This new offering from the mobile phone operator is reportedly connected either to a handset or a series of handsets that should soon make an appearance on its airwaves, as well as with some new service plans.

According to a recent post on BGR, which unveiled some details on the said project, we might soon learn than the carrier is about to launch on its airwaves the recently unveiled Nokia N900, the high-end Maemo 5-powered Internet Tablet, along with another Nseries mobile phone from the Finnish handset maker Nokia. At the same time, the BlackBerry Bold 9700, which should be unveiled in the following weeks, might also have something to do with the project, it seems.

The piece on BGR says that these are not the only goodies T-Mobile is preparing for its users, “but they’ll also be pushing something pretty amazing — a $50 all you can eat plan that includes voice, SMS, MMS and data. Apparently, this plan will be called “Everything Unlimited” and is meant to represent T-Mobile’s new strategy which will essentially see it try and poach subs from various low-cost carriers. We’ve also been told that T-Mobile will be adopting a very Walmart slogan of 'More for Less.'”

These details on Project Dark are not official and might prove not to be real in the end, but rumors sometimes pan out, one should agree. BGR states that the upcoming Android-based Motorola CLIQ and Samsung Behold II might also be included in the project, and that it might have something to do with the expansion of T-Mobile’s 3G network, and not on the UMTS side, but on the 21Mbps HSPA area.

The one thing that is certain is that the competition on the US mobile phone market seems to have intensified lately, and it is expected to be even tighter in the near future, and, since more carriers are offering enhanced services at lower price tags, the roll-out of these Everything Unlimited plans might prove true in the end. Hopefully, this will pan out, and both the services and the new handset will soon be unveiled by the carrier.

It is not a project with a particular phone, or a phone, it is the project term for a company turnaround; Last to first. All sectors are under pressure to quit fiddling their dumb thumbs up their butts, and get relevant.

It's an all ecompassing action plan of unleashing the absurdly fast 21mbps HSPA+ speeds (3 times faster than what is still in development by At&t) across the nation in the fastest manner as humanly possible. More sleek and high end phones people WANT. Focusing on the exploding Android software/phones popularity, and Europe's Nokia line-up. Stabalizing, enhancing, and increasing exsisting voice coverage. New aggressive plans, more in line with Europe than the absurdly ridiculous US standard (Text IS data jackasses...) And last but not least, a new image for the company to throw down consumers throats. No more will you hear... "I wan't Verizon for the coverage" or "I want Sprint for the data".

T-Mobile isn't losing the game, but they are taking one hell of a risk investing so much money, time, and labor into this company turnaround. There down some money in roulette, and are gambling it all at once for a big win. Let's hope it pays off.

Any word on when this could become available, I've been following the N900 closely and holding out on buying another phone for so long. The Everything plan sounds amazing and finally getting my N900 at the same time would be spectacular.

If this is what Magenta can do for me I am glad I have stayed. Thanks, T-Mobile! Sometimes things have been rough but I knew sticking with an affiliate of the worlds leader in Cellular Technology (Deutsche Telekom) would pay off. My first phone was the Nokia 6800 and my next phone, hopefully, will be the N900. This is an amazing day in my life and I really do hope T-Mobile comes through with this Project Dark.
