The first voice guided navigation application for Maemo

Sygic recently announced the launch of its turn-by-turn voice guided navigation application for Maemo phones, the first such solution available for the European Nokia N900, now listed in the company's web e-shop. According to Sygic, the application comes with a full set of navigation features, such as user-friendly operation, multiple user settings, fast route calculation, and more, including latest maps loaded on board of the handset, so as to transform the Nokia N900 in a full-featured personal navigation device.

Among the main features of the application, we can count: - Speed cameras, speed limits and railway crossings warnings provide safety for you and others. - Signposts help you to head in the right direction. - Lane assistant informs you about the correct lane to be in. - Automatically or manually adjustable color schemes for day and night use. - User interface and voice guide speak your native language. - Search for millions of restaurants and other points of interest, with an option to call in, find parking, and navigate to. - Design your trip with multi-stop route planning before you head out. - Avoid a roadblock with a single click. - Save and organize favorites according to your needs. - Customize what you want to see on the navigation screen.

According to the company, its solution has been developed so as to offer turn-by-turn voice guided navigation for a wide range of handsets available on the market today. The Sygic Mobile Maps application can be used on the Apple iPhone, as well we on Symbian, Maemo, Android and Windows Mobile (including Windows Mobile 6.5)-based handsets. The software uses maps pre-loaded on the device, so that one can enjoy navigation even when the network is not available.

The application comes to the market with European maps, and is available for purchase for EUR 59,99. According to the company, users will be able to benefit from the app's features as long as they want after the purchase, not to mention that additional maps are also planned for being added to the package in the future. At the moment, the solution includes maps for Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican. Moreover, it comes with maps only for transit roads in Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Belarus, Moldova, Montenegro, Bosnia - Herzegovina, Romania, Ukraine.
