The high-end Nokia N900 mobile computer, the latest Maemo-based device that Nokia pushed to the market, has just received a new software update, in the form of firmware v20.2010.36-2.

According to the release notes, users downloading and installing the new OS version should benefit from a nice range of improvements, as well as from support for Nokia Ovi Suite, which has been just included into the mix.

“The update adds Ovi Suite support to your N900 and makes it even easier to access and sync files and messages between your device and your desktop,” Nokia announced officially via a post on its Nokia Conversations blog.

“In addition, we’ve added hundreds of tweaks and fixes that will make your N900 run faster and smoother than ever,” the said post continues.

The new software update should be sent to all Nokia N900 devices out there as an over-the-air update, and users would be informed on its availability for their own units.

“You’ll know that the software update is ready to install when you see a white exclamation mark in a yellow box appear on your device’s screen. Just touch on that icon and follow the instructions,” the said blog post reads.

According to an article on esphoneblog, it appears that the new software solution is not the PR 1.3 firmware update that was announced as being on its way to N900 in the near future.

The said solution should offer users the possibility to dual boot in Maemo and MeeGo, depending on their preferences, but we'll still have to wait a little longer before it is made available.

In the meantime, Nokia N900 users should get ready to download and install the new firmware v20.2010.36-2 on their devices, end enjoy the new features it brings into the mix.

“If you receive a not enough memory warning when you try to update the software, just uninstall a few apps and try again,” the Nokia Conversations post continues.

Users should also take a look at some of the new games in the Ovi Store, such as Angry Birds Level Packs 2 & 3, Kroll, Tower Boxx Deluxe 3D and Joiku WiFi Hot Spot, the said post concludes.
