Looks different than expected

The already rumored and somehow expected Nokia N900 Internet Tablet from the Finnish mobile phone maker seems to be as real as it can be, as it has been caught on video during a presentation last October from Axel Meyer, head of Nseries design at Nokia. As reported before, although the handset hasn't been officially announced until now, it seems that the world's largest phone maker is getting ready to make a move in this direction.

The device that can be seen in the video looks a little different than what we have already seen into the wild, and it's uncertain how it will actually look when released, though, given the fact that the video is quite old, the Nokia N900 might actually feature the design that has leaked onto the Web.

For those that didn't get the details back then, we should note that the handset is expected to include an OMAP3430 500/600 Mhz processor, which should be coupled with 1GB of total virtual runtime memory, a 3.5-inch WVGA touch-screen that can deliver an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and auto focus, as well as Wi-Fi and HSPA for connectivity, a GPS receiver and an accelerometer. The 59.7mm x 111mm x 18.2mm device that weighs 180g should run under Maemo 5.

The Nokia N900 Internet tablet looks rather great, and the fact that Nokia is coming to the market with a successor to the N810 sounds even better, especially given the fact that the company announced back in January that it axed its N810 Internet Tablet WiMax Edition. At that time, there were some voices suggesting that the Finnish maker might change its focus from this kind of devices, but it seems that things are not that way after all.
