Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia launched during the ongoing year its first handset running under the Maemo 5 operating system, the Nokia N900, a phone that is expected to arrive on the UK market as soon as January 14 is here. However, enthusiasts in the UK won't have to wait until then to grab one of these beauties, as the handset has been already put on sale via Carphone Warehouse, though a contract agreement with Vodafone is still required.

The retailer has been rumored before to plan launching the high-end Nokia device before the end of the year, as it seems that it all proved true in the end. Carphone Warehouse lists the Nokia N900 on its website as available in stock, and has it available for those interested in purchasing it for free with 24 months contracts on price plans that start at £35 per month. The handset can also be purchased with lower tariffs, featuring a price tag that ranges from £40 to £219.99.

The Nokia N900 is so much more than a phone; it's a device you never want to be without. No longer will you need a separate camera, modem, memory, GPS or music player, all you will need is the Nokia N900. With a powerful 600 MHz processor, 1GB of application memory, plus a Linux-based operating system, you will get enough power to open as many documents and websites as you need quickly, effortlessly, and simultaneously,” the retailer describes the phone.

32GB of internal storage, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, GPS navigation, a touchscreen display that boasts an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a sliding QWERTY keyboard and the Firefox mobile browser are only some of the specifications of the N900. All of them come to the market in a device that measures 110.9 x 59.8 x 18 mm and weighs 181g. More on Carphone Warehouse's website here.
