Earlier this week, mobile phone maker Nokia unveiled to the world its first handset that runs under the MeeGo platform, namely the Nokia N9, and some info on the pricing of this device has just emerged.

When announcing the Nokia N9, the company did not offer official details on its availability around the world, nor on the price tag it might feature when put for sale.

However, it seems that Colin Giles, Nokia's executive vice president of Sales, let slip some info on the matter.

According to a recent article on MyNokiaBlog, he confirmed that the new device would become available for $660 in 16GB flavors, and that the 64GB model would be priced at $749.

Undoubtedly, when compared to other devices out there, the price tag might seem high, but, since this is a niche device, and also a unique one, its cost does not seem that leveraged.

Not to mention that the handset will be sold unlocked, so that users can enjoy its capabilities on any of the supported networks they would like.

As stated above, Nokia did not confirm the price tag for this device, nor did they announce something specific on when it might arrive on shelves, though users can register for updates on the matter straight on the company's website.

One thing that seems to be certain though is that there will be no new MeeGo-based mobile phone from Nokia after the N9 (and the N950 developer handset, of course).

The company is reportedly set to move to Windows Phone 7 without having second thoughts, which means that Nokia N9 will indeed be one of the kind mobile phone.

Of course, there will still be a series of Symbian-based mobile phones set to arrive on the market in the not-too-distant future, but the company does not plan on expanding the support for this mobile OS past 2016.
