Nokia N8, the high-end Symbian^3 device from the Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, is expected to become available for purchase in the UK on September 23 for £429 SIM free via Nokia UK, while landing at other retailers one week later, on October 1st. No specific details on the price tag these retailers would ask for the handset emerged for the time being, but Nokia did say that Nokia N8 would go free on contract agreements.

As for other off contract price tags, things are unclear for the time being, though recent info suggests that the device might actually be cheaper than on Nokia's website.

A recent article on My Nokia Blog brings forth some screenshots from wireless carrier Tesco, suggesting that the mobile phone would be priced at only £299.97, no contract included.

Until this is confirmed or proved false, we should have a look at another interesting feature that the new Nokia N8 should arrive on shelves with, namely support for a Mobile TV Headset to make the device a nice, portable TV receiver.

It's a common fact that many people have TV on their mobile phones these days, and it seems that Nokia is making big steps in this direction too.

Basically, the Nokia N8 needs a TV receiver to enable users watch favorite TV shows on its large display, and the Nokia Mobile TV Headset is the perfect solution for that.

“The Nokia Mobile TV Headset, DVB-H, is all you need to turn your mobile device into a portable television,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

“Anywhere there’s mobile DVB-H (Digital Video Broadband – Handset) coverage, you can tune into sports events or TV shows and watch them without worrying about an Internet connection. DVB-H is also kinder to your battery life than Web TV solutions.” we learn from there.

Moreover, the device would continue to receive calls, or to perform other specific phone functions even when the TV capabilities are on, all courtesy of the new headset that Nokia announced today. The solution also comes with keys for changing channels, as well as for music controls for the player on the mobile phone, and goes hand in hand with an application called Mobile TV, which can be found on the Ovi Store, if not pre-installed on the device.

“The Mobile TV Headset works with the forthcoming Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 devices that come with the USB-on-the-go feature. It is expected to cost €40 before taxes and will appear in Q4 2010,” Nokia says. Other Nokia handsets support it too.
