The new color scheme includes the common 3 Xpress-On covers

The Nokia N79 is reported to have a new color added to the series, this time the well-known petrol-black. According to the news, the Petrol Black Nokia N79 would feature a black front faceplate, while also sporting the usual 3 Xpress-On covers, the dark grey, steel grey, and deep plum. The news report does not make it clear whether the new good-looking model will become available in both the Euro and NAM versions.

As many of you already know, the Nokia N79 comes with support for GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and HSDPA 900 / 2100 frequencies, while also featuring Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UPnP technology and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0 connectivity. HSDPA support offers data transfer rates of up to 3.6 Mbps, and the phone also comes with a built-in GPS receiver and A-GPS support.

The handset sports a 5-megapixel camera that provides a picture resolution of up to 2592x1944 pixels and features Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, video recording (VGA 30fps), and flash. In addition, the device comes with a secondary VGA videocall one. Any snapshots taken with the camera can be viewed on the handset's 2.4-inch TFT display, which delivers a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 16M colors.

Moreover, there is a Touch-sensitive Navi wheel, as well as an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. Other features include Stereo FM radio with RDS, FM transmitter, TV out, 3.5 mm audio output jack, Photo/video editor, Integrated handsfree, WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML, RSS feeds, SMS, MMS, Email, and Instant Messaging. Nokia N79 runs on Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI.

The 83 MB internal memory of the device is complemented by the microSD memory card slot supporting up to 8GB of storage space. The phone measures 110 x 49 x 15 mm and weighs 97g. Its standard Li-Ion battery offers a capacity of 1200 mAh (BL-6F) and provides users with up to 5 h 30 min of talk time and up to 372 h of standby time.
