Nokia N1 and Jolla Tablet were announced earlier this week just one day apart from each other. If you’re looking on bots specs sheets, you immediately realize there are few differences between the two slates, which will make choosing harder considering they will go on sale for the same price.

The good news is Nokia made it easier for customers to choose one of the two tablets, as the N1 will only be available for purchase in China. The Finnish company prefers to focus on the world’s largest market instead of spreading its stocks thin across the globe.

Jolla has another approach, which will see its new tablet on sale in lots of markets worldwide. In fact, according to the Indiegogo campaign that will end on December 9, the Jolla Tablet should be ready for shipping in May 2015 in the following markets: EU, Norway, Switzerland, United States, India, China, Hong Kong and Russia.

As anyone can notice, there’s only one place where both tablets will compete each other and that’s China, the world’s largest market for phones and tablets.

If we are to believe Nokia’s statements, then customers in territories other than China will not be able to purchase the N1 next year in mid-February when the tablet is expected to hit shelves.

Judging from the tablet’s specs and price, Nokia N1 will definitely sell very well in China, so we don’t see the Finnish company launching the slate in other countries until it meets the high demand in the Mainland.

Nokia and Jolla will focus on different markets initially

This means that while Nokia will be busy fulfilling orders in China, the Jolla Tablet will be the only option for those living in other countries and look for a cheap but powerful tablet.

By the time Nokia decides to go international with the N1, Jolla Tablet should have already sold very well worldwide. But there’s a major aspect that we should take into consideration and that’s the release date for Jolla Tablet, which is currently set for May 2015.

If Jolla doesn’t manage to release its tablet by that time and Nokia goes international with the N1, competition will take its toll and sales might be a lot lower.

For the time being, it looks like both Finnish companies focus on different markets, which means they will not really compete one another until later next year. The good news is both Nokia and Jolla seem to have a bright future ahead if they handle the launch and distribution of their tablets well.
