Nokia’s first Android tablet which was unexpectedly unveiled a few months ago, just went on sale in China for the equivalent of $257 / €216 a pop.

However, those of us residing outside of Asia still have to wait a while before the tablet is made available in other territories.

Until then, you pretty much have time to decide whether the slob is for you or not. What might help you decide to purchase the device or not is to see how the device stacks up against other offerings on the market.

Nokia N1 shows up in benchmarks

Chinese website Zol has already shared the results of several benchmark tests, including AnTuTu and GFX Benchmark (via NPU).

In case you have missed our earlier coverage, the Nokia N1 arrives with a 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution (and 324 ppi). The power source of the machine is a 64-bit quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop-enhanced slate also takes advantage of an 8MP rear camera (devoid of LED flash) and a 5MP selfie one up in front.

Powering the whole setup is a capable 5,300 mAh battery that should allow you to use the slate for a decent amount of time.

We should also mention that Nokia is using its own skinned version, the Nokia Z launcher onboard of the slate, so users will be allowed access to Google Play Store, unlike Nokia X smartphone users.

Nokia N1's performance seems superior to the iPad mini 3

Anyway, going back to the benchmark results, the Nokia N1 tablet seems to have performed exceptionally well.

The device has been tested for CPU efficiency and image processing efficiency, and in both scenarios it came on top towering above the Apple iPad mini 3 and other devices coming from Samsung, Google, Toshiba or ASUS (the names of the exact devices aren't visible).

The same result can be spotted in GFX Benchmark which had the Manhattan, T-Rex and 1080p T-Rex offscreen running. Here too, the Nokia N1 proved to be more efficient than the iPad mini 3.

So what do you think? Would you pay $257 / €216 for the Nokia N1?
