Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia might have decided to sell its devices division to Microsoft, but it still appears set to provide owners of Lumia devices with an improved experience when it comes to its services.

As such, the company has made available for download a new version of its Nokia MixRadio application for Windows Phone devices, so as to deliver some enhancements to those using it while on the go.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Nokia MixRadio was meant to provide users with free, personalized music with no advertising, straight on their handsets, at all times.

This means that users can also set the application to play music when they are off the grid, and the latest version of the software was released specifically with enhancements in this area.

According to the available release notes, some of the improvements to offline mixes packed inside the new app version include showing the time remaining before expiry.

At the same time, users will see that mixes become playable before having even been completely downloaded, and that they will also remain playable while being refreshed.

Moreover, the updated Nokia MixRadio for Windows Phone will allow users to easily navigate Home from any page in the mobile application, while also enabling them to go to the Player from anywhere within the app.

However, Nokia did not provide the mobile client only with new features, as it also made sure that some of the bugs previously spotted in the software were fixed, and that users would also take advantage of some performance improvements with it.

Nokia MixRadio comes with hundreds of handcrafted mixes but also enables users to easily create a mix, and to enjoy gigs, artist notifications, mp3 store and player, and other features more.

On top of that, users can easily save their favorite mixes on the device, which will make them available for offline playback. Even when there’s no network connection, the music can play.

“Start listening with Play Me, an ever-changing mix based on the music you love. Use Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down to make the mix better each time you play. It’s like having your own personal radio station,” Nokia notes in the application’s description.

The new flavor of the Nokia MixRadio application is available for download through the Windows Phone Store as version 4.3.0.387, with support for all Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1.
