The Finnish company confirmed it on Facebook

There have been lots of rumors on Nokia's presumed comeback on the smartphone market. Execs have been quoted, information from sources close to the matter leaked online, point to a single fact: Nokia plans to re-enter the smartphone market one way or the other.

Although the Finnish company released a statement a few days ago denying that these rumors are accurate, it looks like they are a bit different.

Nokia has recently replied on Facebook to a fan located in India who is eagerly awaiting the company's return on the smartphone market, by saying that it's working on it.

All that Nokia has done in the last couple of months was to send mixed feelings to its fans who are still waiting for the company's first smartphone after its mobile division was acquired by Microsoft.

Since the contract between Microsoft and Nokia forbids the latter from launching any smartphones until the end of 2015, if the Finnish company decides to release another mobile phone, it can only do this next year.

No Nokia smartphones until 2016

We now have two statements coming from different official channels, but they also support different opinions. One is saying that Nokia has no intention of coming back on the smartphone market, while the other one says that the company is already working on launching a new phone.

The fact is that both statements might be true. How is that possible? Perhaps Nokia is already working on a new smartphone, but it hasn't yet decided whether or not to re-enter the smartphone market.

This means that anything that we are fed in the form of leaks and rumors might not be entirely accurate until next year when Nokia will be free from the chains of the agreement signed with Microsoft.

The only thing we can do now is wait until the end of the year because, if Nokia decides to launch a new smartphone, it will make an announcement during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, which are set to begin early next year.
