Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia released a while ago into the wild the first Nokia Messaging IM beta for Nokia E75, which came as an application that provided users with even more features than those delivered by Nokia Messaging, the push-email service from the company. A post on the Nokia Beta Labs blog announced today that version 2.0 of Nokia Messaging IM beta had been released into the wild, with even more features than before.

“The Nokia Messaging team is pleased to announce version 2.0 of the IM Beta! We’re adding support for the E71 and E63 devices as well as support for the Google Talk community. Nokia Messaging offers a desktop-like IM experience on your Nokia device. You can stay in contact with your friends across multiple communities, easily switch between and save conversations and log in invisibly. We continue to add support for more devices and communities in all parts of Nokia Messaging. We welcome your feedback in the discussion forums here on BetaLabs,” is what the developing team says.

While Nokia Messaging is a service that enables users to mobilize a number of up to ten email accounts on the same device, with support for popular email services like Yahoo!, Google Mail or Windows Live, as well as for thousands of other services, the Nokia Messaging IM client provides the same features for instant messaging. The application is compatible with Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi accounts, and can be used on Nokia E75, E71 and E63 devices.

The features list of Nokia Messaging IM 2.0 beta includes fast navigation between multiple conversations, Yahoo- and Google-specific emoticons, graphics, and sounds, the possibility to log in invisibly, as well as rapidly set status and availability, the possibility to see Ovi friends' avatars and set one's own avatar and save conversations options, as well as background notifications of new IMs for true multitasking on your phone. What should be mentioned about the release is that it works only on the specified handsets.

Note: The Nokia Beta Labs states that those who would like to install the IM through a mobile browser will only need to download the .jad file, while those that plan on installing it via a computer through the Nokia PC Suite will need both files.
