The 2.0 version is out of beta

Nokia recently released the final version of its Nokia Maps 2.0, which comes after the beta edition that was made available back in February. The stable 2.0 application brings maps for more than 200 countries around the world (users can navigate on more than 70 of them). The vector maps included are from TeleAtlas and Navteq, world leading providers of navigation products, hence they're the best that can be found.

Nokia Maps 2.0 brings lots of improvements as compared to the previous version. First of all, it has an enhanced user interface that's easier to use and it comes with the new "Walk" feature. "Walk" is especially created for pedestrians and it allows them to quickly find their way, regardless of where they are. Moreover, it provides visual guidance and info on near-by streets, buildings or parks, so even the clumsiest users will find it hard to get lost.

Other new features of the new Nokia Maps include: multi-stop route planner, real satellite aerial views, faster routing for Car Navigation, public transportation info (but only for 17 cities at the moment), multimedia city guides, an advanced search function (enabling you to find various places, restaurants and interest points) and so on.

The Nokia Maps 2.0 application can be downloaded for free from Nokia's website (found at this address), being compatible with a wide range of Nokia mid to high-end handsets, from the N95 8GB to Nokia 5700 XpressMusic.

Among the "lines" that Nokia came up with to accompany the release of Nokia Maps 2.0, the one that says "there are treasures to be found" is the best-thought of all. And although it doesn't mean you can find treasures in the "a box full of jewelry" way, I'm sure the new 2.0 version of the Maps can prove to be, in some situations, as valuable as a treasure.
