Although Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform is already present in Japan, Nokia has yet to launch its Lumia series in the country.

According to MyNokiaBlog, the Finnish company plans to launch at least one Lumia smartphone in Japan, in the following weeks.

The information is confirmed in an NTT Docomo internal document which mentions a certain “NK-01E: Lumia” among the handsets to soon be launched in the country.

So far, Windows Phone fans have been able to purchase Fujitsu’s smartphone via KDDI, but once Nokia launches its Lumia series in Japan, customers will have more options to choose from.

No word on whether or not Nokia will launch more than one Lumia smartphones. More information on price tag and availability will probably emerge close to launch, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
