Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia betted all on a single mobile operating system last year when it announced the adoption of Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, and the move is slowly starting to pan out.

The company already launched a handful of Windows Phone 7-powered devices, aimed at different segments of the market, and is expected to launch Windows Phone 8 handsets before the end of this year as well.

We’re only a few hours away from learning what Nokia’s plans for Windows Phone 8 include, but we can already have a look at what some enthusiasts would like the company to launch.

Concept phones depicting Nokia Windows Phone 8 devices have already been seen around the web, but none of them was as large and appealing as the Nokia Lumia OneNote 5.5’’ Phablet that we can have a look at today.

Powered by the same mobile OS as Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, supposedly Nokia’s first WP8 devices, the phablet promises increased functionality and great looks, as well as an enhanced experience courtesy of its AMOLED HD touchscreen display.

Featuring looks similar to those of Nokia’s Lumia 900 and Lumia 800 smartphones, the Lumia OneNote 5.5’’ Phablet concept device comes with a curved screen and throws in a stylus for increased usability.

Moreover, it comes with a quad-core 1.6 GHz application processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM to accompany it.

Storage-wise, users will be able to choose between 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options, but will also have a microSDHC card slot available to expand the memory.

On the back, the concept device features a 12-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus, LED flash and support for full HD video recording. It would also sport a 2MP camera on the front for making video calls.

The specifications list of this device also includes support for HSPA+ and 4G LTE connectivity, along with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities and built-in GPS receiver.

Software-wise, the phablet would sport not only the Windows Phone 8 platform with all of its features and capabilities, but also apps that are specific to Windows 8, such as OneNote MX.

Clearly, there’s little chance that Nokia would actually launch a Windows Phone 8-powered 5.5-inch phablet in the near future, but the concept device coming from Ibrahim Sujau (via Concept-phones) still looks great, that’s for sure.
