Owners of Nokia Lumia Icon devices on the network of wireless carrier Verizon are currently receiving a new software update, one that will land on handsets as software version 1028.3566.1417.0047.

According to Verizon, the new firmware release will provide users with a series of improvements to Wi-Fi Connectivity, which will ensure a more consistent experience. Moreover, the release notes unveil a series of roaming enhancements for users traveling internationally.

The carrier also notes that other changes in the update include rebranded Nokia Music, which is Nokia MixRadio now, and which comes with a completely new user interface, as well as with a series of enhancements to downloading offline mixes.

The available changelog mentions a series of changes to other applications on the mobile phone as well, along with performance improvements for the mobile phone.

However, as a recent article on WPCentral notes, the update actually includes only a few changes coming from Nokia, such as a modified Verizon boot splash, along with a changed Wi-Fi icon in the status bar.

Those of you who own a Nokia Lumia Icon and who would like to learn more on the new update should head over to Verizon’s support website for that (the release notes are available in the form of a PDF file).
