Users need to press it several times before the phone wakes up

On Monday, Microsoft made a Developer Preview flavor of the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system available for download, and many people rushed to download and install it on their smartphones, including those with Nokia Lumia Icon devices in their hands.

As it turns out, some of them have started to experience issues with the phone’s power button after the update, as it sometimes becomes unresponsive, a recent post on WPCentral notes.

Apparently, the phone sometimes won’t wake up when the power button is pressed once, and users need to press it multiple times for it to become responsive.

In case that the device doesn’t wake up regardless of how many times the power button is pressed, a reboot or a soft reset should do the trick, it seems.

For that, users will need to press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time for around 15 seconds or until they feel the handset vibrate.

There’s no telling how wide spread the issue is at the moment, though Microsoft will certainly look into the matter, and the issue might get fixed in the final version of Windows Phone 8.1, or even before that. Keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
