Starting today, Verizon’s customers can purchase a new high-end smartphone from Nokia, no other than the 5-inch Lumia Icon that went official only last week.

The smartphone was put up for sale on the wireless carrier’s website with a price tag of $199.99 (€145) attached to it, provided a two-year contract agreement is signed.

Those who would like to grab the new Windows Phone 8 smartphone without committing to a contract will be able to do so as well, though they will have to pay $549.99 (€400) for it.

Nokia Lumia Icon is the latest high-end smartphone that Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has made official, featuring capabilities that bring it close to the Lumia 1520, but in a smaller, more compact design.

The phone comes with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, while being powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.

Moreover, it packs a 20-megapixel camera on the back, with ZEISS Optics, Optical Image Stabilization, capable of full HD video recording, as well as a 1.2MP front camera for video calling while on the go.

“With the Nokia Lumia Icon, see and hear what you’ve been missing. Get the ultimate smartphone video experience with gorgeous HD video and awesome stereo sound,” Verizon notes.

“A 20–megapixel camera and single–finger zoom make it easy to get close to the action. Experience great performance with this Windows Phone 8 smartphone.”

Nokia Lumia Icon was launched with 2GB of RAM inside, as well as with 32GB of internal memory. The smartphone is powered by a 2420mAh battery that should offer up to 17.64 hours of usage time, or up to 18 days of standby time.

The specifications list of this device also includes 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS receiver, NFC, FM Radio (though it requires headset for it), and the usual set of sensors.

Verizon also notes that Lumia Icon is a Global Ready smartphone, and that it will provide users with various software features as well, including apps such as Nokia MixRadio, Nokia Camera, Storyteller and HERE Maps, along with fast access to social networking sites such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and more.
