With each passing day, we’re getting closer to Nokia Black’s release, the major update that promises to bring lots of new features and improvements to Lumia smartphones.

However, the update has not yet been released and Nokia engineers are still working on adding new features and probably removing small bugs and issues.

One such new feature that will be included in the Nokia Black update is called Double Tap to Wake and allows Lumia users to wake up the display by double tapping on it.

Unfortunately, Nokia made this feature available only on its high-end smartphones and its budget-friendly lineup has been left out for no apparent reason.

Well, it looks like the Finnish company has been hit by lots of negative feedback from Lumia users, especially after LG officially announced that it would put its KnockON feature, similar to Nokia’s Double Tap to Wake, into some of its mid-range smartphones.

Although there’s no official word yet, it appears that Nokia may have decided to include this feature on its low-end smartphones as well.

WMPoweruser reports that Vietnamese blog site Winphoneviet has just posted the video below, which shows a Nokia Lumia 625 smartphone that comes pre-loaded with Lumia Black update. Among the highlights shown, the Double Tap to Wake feature appears to function properly.

There’s no telling if other entry-level smartphones like Lumia 520, 525 and 620 will be getting the update in the same form, but we don’t see any reason why Nokia wouldn’t bring the feature to these devices as well.

For the tech-savvy, the software version running on the Nokia Lumia 625 is 8.0.10517.150, so look for this update when the Finnish company officially kicks off the rollout of Lumia Black.

Obviously, Nokia may change this version with a newer one, but we’ll be keeping an eye on things and update you when new details emerge, so stay tuned.
