On April 2, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia will unveil to the world some new Lumia devices, but it appears that the long rumored Nokia Lumia 930 flagship won’t be among them.

The handset has been long said to be arriving on shelves with the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system version loaded on top and to be one of the first handsets announced with this platform on board.

However, a recent report on NokiaPowerUser claims that only Nokia Lumia 630 will be announced on April 2, during Microsoft’s BUILD conference.

The Nokia Lumia 930 will be revealed to the world a bit later, most probably before April ends, yet no specific info on the matter has been provided as of now.

With no official confirmation on the matter, it remains to be seen what specific plans Nokia will have for the aforementioned conference. After all, the company has already confirmed that “more Lumias” will be announced on April 2.

No details on what might have determined the company to postpone the unveiling of Lumia 930 have emerged until now either.

One thing that was revealed, however, is the fact that the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview will be released on April 8, roughly one week after the OS is officially introduced.

Apparently, Microsoft hasn’t managed to have it ready in time for BUILD, although it was planning on doing so. On the other hand, the company is said to have already shipped Windows Phone 8.1 to manufacturers, so it remains to be seen whether the report pans out or not.

For end users, the new platform version won’t be available until early May, it seems, something that has been rumored for a couple of months now.

Apparently, Microsoft and its partners will be ready to push Windows Phone 8.1 to existing devices only one month after BUILD, and it should do so over-the-air.

The good news is that the new OS version will be available for all Windows Phone 8 devices out there, at least this is what Microsoft said last month.

The bad news, however, is that some devices might not be able to take advantage of all the features included in the upgrade, mainly due to hardware limitations.

Microsoft has already confirmed plans to release the update this spring, but it did not offer a lot of details on it as of now. All on the matter should be unveiled later this week, so stay tuned to learn the news.
