The illusive Nokia Lumia 929 has yet to be officially announced by the Finnish company, but rumors about its upcoming release continue to surface online.

After numerous alleged launch dates and leaked specs and photos, the Lumia 929 is now set (hopefully) for release on January 16, 2014.

According to WPCentral, Microsoft Stores will be taking stock earlier for this one and we might even see the Lumia 929 being officially announced by Nokia and Verizon at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014.

Although there's no telling if the companies will take this opportunity to launch the Nokia Lumia 929 at CES 2014, it's almost certain the smartphone will be released in Q1 2014.

In the same piece of news, evleaks claimed last week the upcoming Windows Phone handset is known under the codename Icon.

Well, it looks like this is actually the name of the smartphone and there's high chance Lumia 929 will be launched at Verizon as Nokia Lumia Icon, evleaks claims.

While none of these details have been confirmed yet, both source have a good track of leaks, so we might just save the date and see of the rumors are accurate.

Keep in mind though that the January 16 release date for Nokia Lumia 929 seems to be subject to change, so if anything goes wrong, Verizon's next Windows Phone flagship smartphone may be delayed once again.

Specs-wise, we know the Lumia 929 should be packed with a powerful 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of RAM.

The smartphone is also said to feature a large 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, as well as an impressive 20-megapixel rear-facing camera with PureView technology, autofocus, dual LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

The Lumia 929 will also be integrated with Qi wireless charging technology and is likely to be powered by a high-capacity 2,510 mAh Li-Ion battery.
