Nokia’s Lumia 925 smartphone is set to make an official appearance on shelves in New Zealand soon, as wireless carrier Vodafone has officially confirmed plans to release it on its network.

The handset will become available for purchase with support for the operator’s 4G LTE network, which has been launched in Palmerston North on Friday.

The company did not provide specific info on when the smartphone will be put up for sale, but it did confirm that it would be released in the not too distant future, as WPCentral notes.

“Three new 4G-capable devices – the Samsung GALAXY S4 Active, Nokia Lumia 925 and Pocket WiFi R212 – will be available from Vodafone soon,” the carrier said in a press release.

“Vodafone’s 4G network is up to 10 times faster than standard 3G services, allowing customers to stream, download, upload, browse and game faster than ever before,” the company also said.

Made official back in May, the Nokia Lumia 925 comes to the market with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system, and builds on the success of Nokia’s Lumia 920 smartphone, which went official last year.

In fact, the handset sports the same hardware specifications as its predecessor, though it features a series of small changes, such as a six-lens setup for its camera.

Lumia 925 packs a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside, and 1GB of RAM, paired with 32GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, the handset features an 8.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with full HD video recording capabilities, and a front camera for making video calls.

The handset also arrives on shelves with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, NFC, support for the aforementioned 4G LTE networks, and the usual set of sensors.

It should also be noted that Lumia 925 was launched with a metallic stripe wrapped around its body, being the first Lumia handset to feature it. The phone is also thinner and lighter than the Lumia 920.
