Users interested in the purchase of a new Nokia smartphone can now take advantage of a special promotion that the Finnish handset vendor has in store for them, through offering a $20 (€15) app voucher with the acquisition of a Lumia 925, 928, 1020, or 1520.

The deal is available for all those looking to grab a new handset during the holiday period and will end on January 15, the company has announced.

The aforementioned $20 app voucher can be used for the purchase of applications in the Windows Phone Store, and it is also good for Windows 8 and Xbox software.

“The promotion, which runs until Jan. 15, is being offered in dozens of markets around the world. Since rollout timing and phone availability depends on where you live, watch Nokia’s website for more details and the fine print,” a post on the Windows Phone Blog explains.

In addition to this deal, users who grab the new Nokia Lumia 1520 from a Microsoft store will also receive a $50 (€37) app card from Microsoft, the Redmond-based software giant has announced.

Additionally, those who pre-order the smartphone during the reserve period will receive other free items as well, including a new flip cover.

These deals are meant to make devices running under the Windows Phone 8 operating system seem even more appealing to users out there and spur sales.

Lately, the mobile platform has gained some more market share around the world, now sitting well on the third position in the smartphone OS segment, though it still accounts for only around 4 percent of handsets.

However, we’re convinced that, with deals such as those mentioned above and with new high-end smartphones brought to shelves in the coming months, the OS could gain even more traction, so as to definitely establish itself as one of the leading mobile platforms.
