14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia might not be making phones anymore, but there are plenty of users out there who still utilize the company’s older models. Like the Chinese citizen we’re going to talk about in this article, who was miraculously saved by his trusty Nokia phone.
Nokia, a company that was once at the top of the phone making business, traversed a shady period last year when it was forced to sell its mobile division to Microsoft.
But the company’s aura of glory and mystique lives on. One thing that will probably remain glued to Nokia’s image forever is the fact that its phones are deemed extremely sturdy. Actually, we should be calling them indestructible.
While today’s smartphones are pretty fragile, and dropping them on the wrong side might be a recipe for disaster, Nokia’s phones have always had the fame of being extremely durable.
Nokia's phones save lives
The story we’re about to share with you proves exactly that. The Gansu province in China was the scene of an unfortunate accident over the weekend, when a 20-meter wall suddenly collapsed killing two.
One of the victims buried by the falling brick wall was killed instantly, while the other died later at the hospital. Seven other people were also trapped under the debris, but they were pulled out shortly afterwards and are now being treated for their wounds.
Among them was a man called Geng Ming, who apparently managed to come out of the incident almost unharmed thanks to his Nokia phone.
According to the Shanghaist, Ming instinctively held his Nokia phone up to protect his head from the falling debris, using the device as a sort of mini shield.
Ming is now in hospital, but he only suffered minor wounds and will probably be discharged by doctors soon enough. He claimed that if it hadn’t been for this Nokia Lumia 920 handset, he wouldn't have been alive.
His allegations do seem a little exaggerated, since the Nokia Lumia 920 is a tiny device that isn't really a match for a brick wall falling on top of you, but who knows, without the protection it provided, the man could have been hit on the head and might have sustained severe injuries.
