Nokia Lumia 920 Returns from Edge of Space Unharmed

Nokia Lumia 920 is a tough Windows Phone 8 smartphone, that’s for sure, and the latest test performed on it shows exactly that.

A team of tech students from the Aalto University, Otaniemi, Finland, helped by Finnish retailer Verkkokauppa.com and the Finnish advertising agency Rocky Advertising, sent the phone to the edge of space to see how it performs.

Nokia Lumia 920 returned from the stratosphere, at about 30 km up in the air, and still worked, although it fell right down to the Earth.

It got the name of Nokia Lumia 920 Space Edition, but nothing was damaged inside the device, it seems. In the video embedded above, you can see parts of the 1.5-hour journey it made, as well as the “forced” landing in the woods.

“The Lumia was as good as new when found, and restarted without a problem,” the team conducting the experiment said.
