Both smartphones are expected to arrive sometime in May

We’ve just reported earlier today on the possible delay of the Lumia 900 in the UK, and it looks like the Finnish company had decided to push back the launch of the Lumia 610 in Philippines as well.

A Nokia’s local marketing exec told folks over at Electronic Pulp that both Lumia 900 and 610 that were expected to arrive in stores in the next few weeks would not be released as previously scheduled.

Although Nokia promised that Philippines would be the first country to get the Lumia 610 in late April, the handset maker thought to delay the launch of the smartphone “indefinitely.” Apparently, the same goes for the Lumia 900, which was postponed as well.

However, it appears that two major carriers in the country, Globe Telecom and Smart Communications are at the root of the problem.

Due to the fact that Nokia has given these two operators exclusive rights to sell Lumia devices in Philippines, the company will not be able to keep its promise and bring the Lumia 900 and 610 in the country as scheduled.

It seems that both carriers are concerned that they will have a hard time selling the Lumia 800 and 710 models, which are currently available for purchase in Philippines, after the Lumia 900 and 610 will be released in the country.

This is probably the main reason that the two local telcos asked Nokia to repeatedly delay the launch of the two smartphones.

Still, Nokia fans living in Philippines can rest easy as the Finnish company promised that Lumia 900 and 610 will be released next month, though no exact launch dates have been set for the moment.

So far, the only information available is that both devices are delayed until further notice, but Nokia is reportedly working with both carriers to iron out the last details necessary to release the Lumia 900 and 610 in Philippines.
