At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia unveiled to the world its third Windows Phone-powered handset, the Nokia Lumia 900. Announced exclusively for AT&T in the United States, the new device packs support for LTE, being the first Nokia handset to feature this capability.

The design and specs of this device were impressive enough to help it win a series of awards at the fair, including the “Best of CES” smartphone award from CNet.

The new mobile phone also received a Popular Mechanics editor’s choice award for CES, as well as a Popular Science “Product of the Future” award.

Considering the large number of products that were unveiled at CES 2012, Nokia’s achievement is notable, especially since the company is new to the Windows Phone segment.

The first two such handsets from Nokia were Lumia 800 and Lumia 710, both launched in October and available now in a series of markets around the world, including the United States.

Lumia 900 is expected to arrive on shelves at AT&T in March, some of the latest reports suggest. The release date was mentioned in a Developer Newsletter from Nokia, which weighs as good as an official confirmation.

“The Nokia Lumia 900 phone runs Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5. It is the biggest and fastest smartphone yet. And it will become available exclusively through AT&T in March,” Nokia notes there.

March 18th was mentioned as the exact launch date, though it remains to be seen whether the rumor will pan out. Considering the phone’s specs, we’re certain there will be many enthusiasts waiting for it to become available.

“With support from AT&T's 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network, the Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone will offer high-performance web browsing with Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile, as well as both video and audio streaming,” Nokia notes.

“Other features include a long-lasting battery for all-day use; Nokia App Highlights to recommend key applications; two cameras, including an 8-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens; a 4.3-inch AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) ClearBlack touch-screen display; and the Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive apps.”
