Nokia Lumia 900, the current Windows Phone 7 flagship handset from the Finnish phone maker, has started to receive the Tango software update in both Canada and the United States.

The handset is available for purchase in these countries via wireless carriers Rogers and AT&T, respectively, and both of them are currently pushing the new software to their uses, it seems.

Interestingly enough, Nokia has actually delivered different features for users in Canada and the US, at least this is what the official changelogs unveil.

After installing Tango, Lumia 900 users in Canada will benefit from the following enhancements:

- Flip-to-silence feature - Support for Contacts Share app, to send and receive business cards as text messages - Proximity sensor performance enhancements - Removes purple hue which affected some phones in low-light conditions - Startup sequence performance enhancements - Camera performance enhancements

Lumia 900 users living in the United States will benefit from the flip-to-silence feature as well, and will also get a taste of the camera, and startup sequence performance improvements. Additionally, they will receive a series of battery performance enhancements on their devices.

“Most Nokia Lumia 900 owners will appreciate the Flip-to-silence feature, which mutes your ringer if you turn the phone over. This will come in real handy if you’re in a meeting or with a close friend and you wish to not be interrupted,” a post on Nokia Conversations reads.

Nokia also explains in said post that many of the improvements packed inside this update for Lumia 900 are the result of feedback received from users on Twitter and Facebook.

The new software update is available for download and installation via either Zune for Windows or the Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac.

Users can learn more on how to perform the update process through the two videos embedded below, one for each of the desktop applications mentioned above.
