Nokia’s latest Windows Phone, the Lumia 900, has arrived on shelves at wireless carrier AT&T this Sunday, and is already leading sales charts.

The smartphone was launched in Black and Cyan and is expected to arrive on White too before the end of this month. All three flavors sport LTE connectivity.

The sleek outer design of Lumia 900, along with the performance capabilities promised and the various features that Windows Phone 7.5 can deliver, made the handset a hot deal from day one.

Add to that the fact that AT&T and retail partner Amazon offered the Windows Phone for free to those who pre-ordered it on contract, and you get the right mixture for success.

At only $99 (75 Euro) on contract at AT&T, Nokia Lumia 900 seemed like the right choice for a great deal of people, who assaulted the carrier’s stores and Amazon’s website to grab the device starting with yesterday morning (most stores were closed on Sunday).

Apparently, Amazon’s deal appealed to most, since it had the phone at only half the contract price, with the signing of a two year agreement on select monthly plans.

In fact, both the Black and Cyan flavors of Nokia’s WP device became top selling smartphones at the retailer.

But that’s not all, as Forbes notes in a recent article. Both color flavors of the device managed to climb to top 100 Best Sellers in Cell Phones & Accessories at Amazon, which proves their actual success.

At the time of this article, the Black version of Lumia 900 was No.30 on that list, while the Cyan variant of the phone landed on spot #74. Both have been in the top for only two days.

Forbes notes that Amazon is a great mirror for the trends in the US mobile market, which means that Lumia 900 is a success already. What remains to be seen is whether the device will remain there for a longer period of time, to consolidate sales.

One way or the other, it appears that Microsoft and Nokia might have finally managed to hit the sweet spot with the launch of this high-end device, and that Windows Phone might finally return to growth.

Thus, it does not come as a surprise that Apple delayed the launch of iPhone 5 to October, since this is the timeframe when Windows Phone 8 is expected to debut, and when new smartphones from Nokia and other vendors will be launched.

Those who would like to grab the Black version of Lumia 900 will find it at Amazon on this page, while the Cyan version is available via this link.
