The two phones are compared for determining opening and switching between apps speed on Windows Phone 8.1

Most Windows Phone handsets that are currently on the market perform the vast majority of tasks really fast, partially thanks to the optimizations that Microsoft has implemented in Windows Phone 8.1, but also because of the hardware hiding underneath their case.

Some, however, are capable of providing even better performance, and it’s sometimes really hard to determine which handset can actually open apps or switch between running programs faster.

Technical specifications should pretty much set things clear in this case, but with most handsets now coming with Qualcomm chipsets, it’s really difficult to tell which one is better.

That’s why Reddit user The Flat Dog decided to make his own video comparison between Lumia 830 and Lumia 920, both of which are coming with Qualcomm processors and powerful hardware. The 920, however, has been around for a while, so 830 obviously comes with newer hardware that could bring it a fair advantage.

The spec fight: Lumia 830 vs. Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia 920 was announced in September 2012 and came with a 1.5 GHz Krait dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of space.

The phone features a 4.5-inch screen with a resolution of 768x1280 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass, and PureMotion HD+. At the same time, it also features a 2000 mAh battery that should provide, at least according to the official specs, up to 400 hours of standby time in 3G mode.

Last but not least, the Lumia 920 also includes an 8.7 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, an LED flash, and a second 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

The Lumia 830 was announced in September 2014 and is now launching across the world, so it obviously packs newer hardware that should help it perform most tasks faster.

But as we can see in this video, performance is mostly similar to the one of the 920, despite the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 / Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, and 1 GB of RAM. 16 GB of internal storage is also being offered, while the display measures 5 inches in size and boasts a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

As far as cameras are concerned, the Lumia 830 comes with a 10-megapixel rear unit with LED flash, as well as with a 0.9 megapixel 720p front one.

Full pricing details for the Lumia 830 are yet to be confirmed, but the device is now available in some markets for around $469 (370 euro).
