As expected, Verizon has just released the Nokia Lumia 822 and HTC 8X, both smartphones are now available for purchase via its online store.

Customers who wish to grab the HTC 8X should know that for the time being only the black color is available, while the blue version is expected to ship by November 19.

There’s also a red-themed variant of HTC 8X, which has been confirmed to ship by November 27. The smartphone is now available for purchase for $200/€155 with a new two-year agreement. Check it out here.

The Nokia Lumia 822 is available in three color options: silver, black and white. All three are now available for purchase for $100/€80 with a new two-year agreement and after a $50/€40 online discount. Check it out here.

Potential customers who want to avoid being tied by a long-term contract can buy the HTC 8X for $550/€430 upfront. The no-term price of the Lumia 822 is set to $450/€350. Even though these are off-contract prices, both smartphones require activation on Verizon’s network.

Both Windows Phone 8 devices seem to be equal when it comes to performance, so it’s a matter of everyone’s taste after all.

HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 822 come equipped with dual-core processors clocked at 1.5 GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

However, the Lumia 822 also packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB), while the 8X lacks this feature.

On the other hand, HTC’s device boasts a 4.3-inch Super LCD2 display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, whereas Nokia’s smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch AMOLED display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

It is also worth mentioning that both smartphones pack 8-megapixel rear cameras, but Nokia Lumia 822 features Carl Zeiss Tessar lens and dual-LED flash.
