Nokia introduced its first Windows Phone devices two months ago and scheduled the launch dates of the smartphones according to its marketing plans.

While Lumia 800 availability was confirmed for France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan, the Lumia 710 is expected to hit shelves only in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan towards the end of the year.

In line its roadmap, Nokia has just announced that both its Lumia smarpthones are now available for purchase in Hong Kong.

The sales of the Lumia 800 and 710 kicked off last night during a street dance event held at Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mong Kok, one of the most famous shopping streets in Hong Kong.

The Finnish company invited lots of local celebrities including Kelvin Cheng, Samantha Ko, Sire Ma and Alice B to join general manager Bruce Lam for this launch event. According to Nokia, the event also “marked the sales start for the devices in the region.”

No word on the phones’ pricing options yet, but the Lumia 800 should be available for around 420 EUR (555 USD) outright.

Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 are the first “true” Windows Phone smartphone and pack dozens of new features added with the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile platform, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Both smartphones offer users deep social networking integration with one-touch access, “easy grouping of contacts, integrated communication threads and Internet Explorer 9.”

Hardware-wise, each Lumia series smartphone is equipped with a 1.4 GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor and pack 512 MB of RAM, as well as 16GB (Lumia 800) and 8GB (Lumia 710) onboard memory.

In addition, the handsets come with 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreens, which are based on Nokia’s ClearBlack technology and are protected against scratches and scrapes with Corning Gorilla Glass.

Just like the latest iPhone models, the Lumia 800 and 710 smartphones only support microSIM cards.
