Unveiled last month during Nokia World 2011, the first Windows Phones manufactured by the Finish company, Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 have just been launched in India.

Speaking at the launch event, Nokia India's Managing Director and Vice President for Sales for Mobile Phones, D. Shivakumar, explained how these two smartphones were built by Microsoft and Nokia in such a short time, the guys over at WMPowerUser reported.

Obviously, Nokia India has high expectations with the Lumia devices, which are meant to boost the company's brand in the country, which dropped unexpectedly in the last few years.

According to Nokia's CEO, Stephen Elop, the Lumia series will be available in several European countries starting this month, while Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan will get the smartphones toward the end of the year.

Furthermore, Elop also announced that the Nokia Lumia 800 will be available for purchase for a suggested retail price of 420 EUR ($585), while the Lumia 710 will go for only 270 EUR ($375).

Built on the popularity of the Nokia N9, the Lumia 800 uses the same design, but offers users Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango platform, instead of MeeGo.

Just like the Lumia 710, Nokia's high-end WP7 smartphone Lumia 800 comes with a large 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and is covered with Gorilla Glass display.

Both smartphones are equipped with 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon CPUs and Adreno 205 graphics processing units.

In addition, the Lumia 800 boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics, while the Lumia 710 packs a slightly lower 5-megapixel camera.
