Vodafone Australia is offering the Nokia Lumia 800 for quite some time now. Customers who purchased the Windows Phone device will be happy to know that Nokia has started the roll-out of the latest 12070 update for Lumia 800.

Those who are not familiar with this update’s changelog should know that Nokia plans to improve the battery performance and fix some bugs that have been previously reported by Lumia 800 owners.

In fact, Nokia suggests that this update is mainly a bug fixer. According to Vodafone Australia, “while deployment of this update has begun, it will be progressively released to devices in a staged process over a 24 day period.”

Nokia Lumia 800 owners will be notified about the update being available for download directly on their smartphone. In order to be able to download it, they will be required to connect their Lumia 800 to their computer.

Some users might not be notified on the availability of the update. That’s why everyone needs to be sure that, in Settings / Phone Update, they have turned “Notify me when new updates are found” and “Use my mobile data connection to check for updates” to ON.

Keep in mind that this Windows Phone update for Nokia Lumia 800 is only available via Zune desktop software, so users should make sure they have the latest version installed on their PC computers. Mac owners can install the application via Windows Phone 7 Connector.

Firmware 12070 update is 38MB in size and is available for all users of the Nokia Lumia 800 purchased from Vodafone Australia.

As we have already mentioned, the main benefit of this update is better battery performance. In addition, Nokia updated camera settings and improved charger detection.

Last but not least, camera now automatically detects 50/60Hz to remove flicker in stills and videos.
