The first Lumia smartphones with Windows Phone 8.1 on board have already been released on the market, and lots of fans of Microsoft’s mobile platform already own the Lumia 630, Lumia 635 or Lumia 930.

But these won’t be the last Windows Phone 8.1 handsets to be launched by Microsoft this year, as the Redmond-based company has a busy launch schedule for the rest of the year.

The next devices that should make their debut in the next few months have already been leaked, though things could change by the time they are scheduled to be released on the market.

Anyway, one of the first smartphones that belongs to the new lineup of Windows Phone 8.1 handsets that are likely to hit the market in August/September, Nokia Lumia 530, has been confirmed to arrive in a few countries in early August.

Even though it has yet to be confirmed, Nokia Lumia 530 might be the first smartphone to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 operating system out of the box.

Aside from the Lumia 530, which has already been officially introduced globally, Microsoft also plans to launch a Lumia 720 successor, which is currently known by the product codes RM-983, RM-984 and RM-985, NokiaPowerUser reports.

The cited source also claims the Lumia 720 successor will be launched in the United States at Verizon Wireless and AT&T, but it will also be released worldwide.

Although the smartphone does not have an exact launch date yet, rumor has it the Lumia handset will land in the US by the end of August. More details on the price tag and exact release date are likely to emerge in the following weeks.

Just like Lumia 530, the Nokia Lumia 720 successor is supposed to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 out of the box. This would be a mid-range smartphone that will feature a 5-inch HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display and it may have a “big selfie cam” on the front.

On the inside, the device is expected to be equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and an Adreno 305 graphics processor unit, while on the back, there will be an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Carl Zeiss lens and low-light improvements.

Design-wise, the unannounced smartphone is said to sport a “slightly altered design from Lumia 720,” so don’t expect too many changes when it comes to look and form factor.

We recommend our readers to take the information with a grain of salt until Microsoft officially announces the Lumia 720 successor, but until then, stay tuned for more leaks regarding the company’s lineup of smartphones for the remaining of the year.
