Nokia’s Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 720 smartphone is now available for purchase in the UK on the network of wireless carrier O2, featuring a price tag £299.99 ($450 / 352 Euro) on Pay As You Go plans.

Furthermore, the new mobile phone can be purchased on monthly contracts as well, even with no upfront cost, depending on the selected plan.

Available on this page on the wireless carrier’s website, the Red flavor of the Lumia 720 is exclusive to O2 in the UK. The Black version is available too, though users will be able to grab this variant of the device through other operators and retailers out there as well.

Made official at the MWC 2013 show in Barcelona, Spain, the Lumia 720 packs a 4.3" ClearBlack WVGA (800 x 480) display, while featuring a 1GHz dual-core processor inside.

Nokia also packed the smartphone with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot to enable users to add more storage to it.

Furthermore, the company placed a 6.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back of the device, with support for 720p HD video recording, as well as a front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

Additional hardware specs of the smartphone include Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS receiver, 3G connectivity capabilities, a battery that can deliver up to 13.4 hours of talk time on 3G, and a body that measures 127.9 x 67.5 x 9.0mm and weighs 128 grams.

Running under Windows Phone 8, the handset also packs various exclusive applications from Nokia, including the Mix Radio, City Lens, HERE Maps with LiveSight, and more.

“The Nokia Lumia 720 is the thinnest Lumia yet and comes with a clear screen and bright covers – choose from red or black on O2,” the wireless carrier announced.

“But it’s not just a pretty face. It has an extra-long battery life and a touch screen that works even with gloves or long nails, so you can access your messages, emails and apps when you’re on the go.”
