Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is set to bring its Nokia Lumia 710 smartphone to the market in Australia as soon as next month.

Lumia 710 is the second device that Nokia launched with Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform on board, and is also cheaper than the Lumia 800.

In Australia, the new mobile phone will arrive on shelves at Optus and Virgin Mobile. Moreover, it will be sold via select retailers, featuring a RRP of $379.

The two wireless carriers did not unveil specific info on the pricing of this device on their airwaves, but promised additional details on the matter before the handset arrives on shelves.

Starting with March, Australian mobile phone users will have the option to purchase the first Windows Phone from Nokia as well, none other than the Lumia 800.

The Lumia 710 was launched with a 1.4GHz application processor inside, complemented by 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The Windows Phone device also packs a 3.7-inch touchscreen display on the front, along with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back. The camera is capable of shooting videos in 720p HD resolution.

Unlike the Lumia 800, this Nokia Windows Phone does not come to the market with Carl Zeiss optics and was packed with a single LED flash.

The smartphone will bring to Australia Nokia’s own applications designed for the Windows Phone platform, including Nokia Drive, a free turn-by-turn GPS navigator, and Nokia Music, a mobile service that offers fast access to over 15 million music tracks.

At the same time, the smartphone will include support for Nokia’s Maps application, which is available for all Windows Phone users.

Lumia 710 features a glossy plastic body and will be released in black and white flavors. Users will also be able to choose from black, white, cyan, pink and yellow backplates to add a bit of personalization into the mix.
