Nokia Lumia 630 is one of the first smartphones to come with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box, along with the Lumia 635 and Lumia 930.

The smartphone is already available for purchase in lots of countries, but it won’t be available in China. One of the largest smartphone markets in the world needs special attention from Microsoft and the Redmond-based company has done something about it.

It has introduced the Lumia 636 and Lumia 638, which are enhanced versions of the Lumia 630 that’s now available for the rest of the world.

But what’s the big change and why did Microsoft decide to launch another version of the smartphone in the Mainland? Well, it appears that the company wants to make sure that Windows Phone 8.1 gets it right in China, the world’s largest smartphone market.

In order to make sure that any future devices will have an easier time penetrating the Chinese market, Microsoft has to come up with a hard to refuse offer for Windows Phone fans or those who are willing to switch to a new mobile platform.

BlackBerry’s share market in China is almost zero, so Windows Phone will only get new users from either iOS or Android operating systems. This makes the competition slightly more complicated for Microsoft, but with great devices priced aggressively, there’s room for the Lumia lineup in China as well.

Nokia Lumia 636 and Lumia 638 are variations of the standard Lumia 630 smartphone. However, they are packed with 1GB of RAM instead of just 512MB RAM.

In addition, they offer 4G LTE support and TD-LTE, which is not available in Lumia 630. According to WMPoweruser, the Lumia 636 will be launched at China Unicom on July 5 for 1,299 yuan ($210 / €155) outright.

The Nokia Lumia 638 will be exclusively available in the Mainland through China Mobile carrier from June 21 for the same price. Customers will be able to choose from multiple color options, including black, white, orange and yellow.

Apart from the boost in RAM and the addition of 4G LTE support, there are no changes between the two Lumia phones coming soon to China and the Lumia 630.

They all come with Windows Phone 8.1 onboard and similar 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen displays that support 480 x 854 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the inside, the smartphones pack 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processors, Adreno 305 graphics processing units and 8GB of storage, alongside microSD card slots.
