Earlier this week, Nokia Lumia 635, the LTE flavor of the Windows Phone 8.1-based Nokia Lumia 630, was spotted on the Microsoft Store online portal as available for pre-order, but it disappeared in only several hours, and Microsoft has already provided an official statement on the matter.

According to the company, the smartphone is indeed set to become available in the United States in the not-too-distant future, but the aforementioned listing was inaccurate, and this is why it was removed.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the handset emerged on the aforementioned web portal as available for reservations on the networks of two wireless carriers in the country, namely AT&T and T-Mobile.

The handset had a very appealing price tag attached to it, as users could pre-order it at only $99 (€73) for AT&T and at $129 (€95) for T-Mobile, contract-free.

Right from the start, the listing seemed a bit off, considering the fact that only last week Microsoft had announced the handset as available in Asia and Europe at $189 (€139) before taxes and subsidies.

The aforementioned statement coming from Microsoft confirms that things were indeed so, a recent article on Winbeta notes.

“Recently a Nokia Lumia 635 pre-order offer for AT&T and T-Mobile customers was published on the Microsoft Store, and was subsequently removed as it included inaccurate information,” a Microsoft's spokesperson reportedly says.

“We expect pricing and availability for the Lumia 635 to be announced by our U.S. carrier partners at a later time.”

Nokia Lumia 635 is the cheapest LTE-enabled Windows Phone 8.1 handset to date, and arrives on shelves with the same hardware specifications as the Lumia 630, while also adding the aforementioned 4G connectivity capabilities in tow.

The mobile phone features a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD resolution, as well as a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor inside, paired with 512MB of RAM.

Moreover, the handset sports 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage, and a Li-Ion 1830mAh battery that can offer up to 14 hours of talk time or up to 648 hours of standby time.

Nokia Lumia 635 also features a 5-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 720p resolution, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support and GLONASS.

On top of that, the phone will provide users with all of the features and capabilities that Windows Phone 8.1 was made official with, including Action Center, Start Screen backgrounds, and the digital personal assistant called Cortana.
