Mobile phone users in Canada can now purchase the Nokia Lumia 635 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier TELUS.

The handset, which is the cheapest Windows Phone 8.1-based Lumia to have arrived on shelves with support for 4G LTE connectivity, can be purchased for $0 upfront with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

Users who would like to grab the phone without committing to a contract will be able to do so, while having to get $200 (€136.7) out of their pockets, as can be seen on the operator's website.

Nokia Lumia 635 arrives on shelves as the successor to last year’s Lumia 625, and should provide users with pretty decent capabilities at an affordable price tag.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the smartphone arrives on shelves with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display capable of delivering an FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution.

Moreover, the handset sports a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, which has been paired with only 512MB of RAM.

Nokia Lumia 635 also sports 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, it includes a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, which can record videos in HD resolution. Unfortunately, no front camera for making video calls has been included in the package.

“Shoot 720p HD video on the 5 MP camera, using Nokia’s suite of photo and editing capabilities. Take better selfies (self-portraits) with the new ‘Glam Me’ feature, which allows voice-control,” TELUS explains.

The main selling point of this mobile phone is its support for 4G LTE networks, which allows users to enjoy fast data transfer speeds while on the go.

“With super-fast 4G LTE connectivity and a quad-core processor, the Lumia 635 delivers a superior experience on a beautiful 4.5" screen,” the wireless carrier notes.

The smartphone is powered by an 1830mAh battery that can deliver up to 14 hours of talk time, or up to 27 days of standby time. The phone measures 129.5 x 66.7 x 9.2mm and weighs 134 grams.

Running under the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, Nokia Lumia 635 is also capable of delivering a series of software enhancements and new features that came to the market as part of this OS upgrade.

Some of these include a Notifications Center, Internet Explorer 11, Start Screen backgrounds for additional customization capabilities, Word Flow, and more. Users will also be able to enjoy the capabilities of Cortana, though only if they change the phone’s location settings to the United States.
