US-based carrier T-Mobile has just confirmed that it will offer the newly announced Nokia Lumia 635 smartphone, along with MetroPCS. According to Magenta carrier, the handset will be available for purchase sometime this summer for a price that will be disclosed closer to launch.

On a side note, Nokia has announced a $190 (€140) suggested retail price for the Lumia 635, but the price may vary depending on region and carriers.

Unveiled yesterday at Microsoft’s BUILD 2014 developer conference, Nokia Lumia 635 is one of the cheapest LTE smartphones soon to be available on the market.

More importantly, it will be the first device sold in the United States that comes with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box.

The smartphone is equipped with a more than decent 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Nokia Lumia 635 packs microSD card slot, so users will be able to further expand storage up to 128GB. There’s also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, but no LED flash.

The phone’s 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and features ClearBlack technology along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

According to Nokia, the 1830 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 650 hours of standby time or up to 14 hours of talk time. As we’ve mentioned, the Lumia 635 will offer LTE Cat.3 (100Mbps) support, as well as HSPA (42Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps).

Nokia has also announced the upcoming availability of CC-3079 casings, which will allow Lumia 635 owners to personalize their smartphones as they wish. The Finnish company has confirmed that the Nokia CC-3079 casings will come in Bright Green, Bright Orange and Bright Yellow color options.

In the same piece of news, T-Mobile has announced that it will offer the Windows Phone 8.1 to those who have purchased its own-branded Nokia Lumia 521 and Lumia 925 smartphones. The same goes for MetroPCS customers who own the Lumia 521.

“The Un-carrier's all about removing crazy restrictions and delivering total wireless freedom and flexibility. With Windows Phone, we can offer customers another great choice in mobile platforms.

And we're excited to bring to both T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers the combination of next-gen software, great features and fresh design that Nokia's latest Windows Phone has to offer,” said Jason Young, senior vice president of Marketing at T-Mobile.
