Mobile phone users in Ireland interested in the purchase of a new affordable Windows Phone handset should know that the Nokia Lumia 635 smartphone is coming their way this week.

The handset, made official in early April as one of the first to run under the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system version, has been officially confirmed for this market, and will be making its way to shelves in the coming days, it seems.

The info comes from a tweet posted by Nokia Ireland last week, which clearly mentions the phone’s release timeframe, although no further details on the matter have been provided.

“The speedy Lumia 635 will be available in participating retailers from next week - which is your favourite colour?” the aforementioned tweet reads.

Although Nokia did not offer specific details on the handset’s availability in Ireland, the guys over at nokianewsireland have unveiled some more info on the matter.

According to them, Nokia Lumia 635 is set to become available for purchase in Ireland on Vodafone’s network in Black and Green (the latter will be a Vodafone exclusive), yet it remains to be seen what price tag it will sport.

Meteor Mobile will be adding the handset to its lineup as well, though only towards the end of July. O2, on the other hand, will not release the phone, though it will launch the Nokia Lumia 630.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Lumia 635 and Lumia 630 come to the market with about the same hardware specs, save for the fact that the former sports 4G LTE connectivity inside, while the latter doesn’t.

Nokia Lumia 635 arrives on the market with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 480 x 854 pixels resolution, which is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, complemented by 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Moreover, the handset has been launched with a microSD memory card slot capable of supporting up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p video recording capabilities, but sports no front camera.

Nokia Lumia 635 will arrive on shelves with all the usual connectivity capabilities inside, as well as with GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS, and with a Li-Ion 1830mAh battery capable of delivering up to 14 hours of talk time. On top of all these, there’s Windows Phone 8.1 with all of its features and capabilities.
