Microsoft confirmed not so long ago that Nokia Lumia 635 would be available in Canada sometime this month. Well, it looks like one of the few smartphones to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 on board, the Lumia 635, has finally arrived in Canada and is now available for purchase.

For the time being, only Rogers and Fido offer the budget-friendly Nokia Lumia 635, but it might go on sale at other carriers as well later on.

Anyway, Windows Phone fans can pick this one up from either of the two carriers for only $200 (€135) outright. Nokia Lumia 635 is also available for free on 2-year agreements. It’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone seems to be available only in black and green color options for the moment.

Since Microsoft has announced that the first update for Windows Phone 8.1 will be available beginning next week, those who purchase the Nokia Lumia 635 should expect to get it sooner than those who own another Windows Phone handset that has yet to receive the original Windows Phone 8.1 update with Cyan Lumia.

Still, it will probably take some time until Rogers and Fido make the update available to Lumia 635, as the carriers will have to test it first.

All in all, Nokia Lumia 635 is quite a decent smartphone, and if not for the low amount of RAM, it would have been one of the best-selling Windows Phones available on the market.

For those unaware, the Lumia 635 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

Although it packs only 8GB of internal memory, the smartphone features microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

The phone also sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution. Microsoft also offers no less than 15GB of free cloud storage to those who purchase any Windows Phone handset.

Nokia Lumia 635 features a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with autofocus and HD (720) video recording, but it lacks LED flash and a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

The Windows Phone handset is powered by a removable 1830 mAh battery which should provide up to 650 hours of standby time or up to 12 hours of talk time.

Connectivity-wise, the Lumia 635 offers HSDPA (42Mbps) and HSUPA, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, microUSB, Wi-Fi and FM Radio function.
