The first Windows Phone 8.1 handset, Nokia Lumia 630, is expected to hit shelves in some countries as early as next week. China is among the first wave of countries to receive the Lumia 630 in about one week.

According to WMPoweruser, Nokia Lumia 630 is now available for pre-order in China via major retailer JD.com for only 999 yuan outright, which is about $160 or €115.

The online retailer claims that the first Lumia 630 units will ship beginning May 12, so customers who want to make sure that the smartphone goes on sale next week may want to wait until Monday.

However, there’s a high risk that the Windows Phone 8.1 handset may be sold out before it even goes on sale, especially due to its very low price.

Windows Phone fans in China may want to secure their Lumia 630 units by pre-ordering the smartphone via JD.com beginning today, otherwise they may need to wait until the next shipment of devices arrives in stock.

The good news is that Nokia will launch the dual-SIM version of Lumia 630 in China, but that was expected given the previous history of the Finnish company with smartphones launched in the Mainland.

Anyway, JD.com is now selling the Lumia 630 in orange, yellow, black, green, white and black. Still, users will be able to replace the back cover of the smartphone with a new one anytime they wish.

It is also worth mentioning that the Lumia 630 won’t just be the first smartphone to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box. The device will also be the first to pack Nokia’s Lumia Cyan update.

This update will add lots of new features, improvements and tweaks for Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones, but is exclusive to Nokia Lumia devices.

The Lumia 630 is an affordable smartphone that sports a 4.5-inch ClearBlack display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution and a high-capacity 1830 mAh replaceable battery.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD memory card.

Nokia Lumia 630 will not be the only Windows Phone 8.1 handset to arrive in the coming months, as the Finnish company has confirmed that the Lumia 635 and Lumia 930 will be available on the market as well. Stay tuned for more updates on the Lumia 630 availability in various countries.
