Today, Nokia made official a new smartphone in its popular Lumia lineup, namely the Nokia Lumia 625, an affordable device that packs a large 4.7-inch touchscreen display.

Although aimed at the entry-level of the market, the new device comes with one of the biggest displays in Nokia’s lineup.

Packing super-sensitive touch capabilities, the screen can deliver a WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution, while being paired with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and 512MB of RAM.

“The big 4.7-inch screen on the Nokia Lumia 625 offers a larger view of everything that’s important to you. It’s viewable in direct sunlight and offers our super-sensitive touch technology for operation with gloves or nails,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

The specs list of the new handset also includes 8GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and support for 4G LTE connectivity.

As previously reported, the handset packs a 2000 mAh battery that can deliver up to 15.2 hours of talk time on 3G networks, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and Glonass, and front camera for video calling.

The new mobile phone will arrive on shelves before the end of the third quarter of the year in orange, yellow, bright green, white, and black color options, and will feature a price tag of €220 ($290) before any local taxes or operator subsidies.

“The transition to 4G is gathering pace. With a super-fast internet connection, there’s a real demand for big, beautiful screens that help bring all the content to life – this is where the Nokia Lumia 625 arrives with a really competitive price to match,” Vinay Jayakumar, Nokia product manager, said.

Running under the latest flavor of Windows Phone 8 (the Amber update), the new device also sports the Nokia Smart Camera and Cinemagraph applications, to deliver a great imaging experience to its users.

Furthermore, it offers support for Nokia’s location and navigation services and applications, including HERE Maps, HERE Drive, and HERE Transit, in addition to also featuring the Nokia Music app, with access to ad-free, subscription-free music.
