Nokia Lumia 620 and Huawei Ascend W1 are among the cheapest Windows Phone 8 handsets available on the market.

HTC 8S and the upcoming Nokia Lumia 520 are other two devices in the same price range, so Windows Phone 8 enthusiasts have quite a few options to choose from.

Obviously, it could be better than this if more handset makers would launch more Windows Phone 8 devices, but at least there’s some variation now.

Anyway, it appears that Nokia and Huawei plan to launch their affordable smartphones in Italy. As WMPoweruser points out, Italian blog Plaffo spotted both devices at retailer MediaWorld.

The cheaper of the two, Huawei Ascend W1 will be available for only €200/$260, while Nokia Lumia 620 will cost €250/$325 outright.

According to a leaked leaflet, Nokia Lumia 620 and Huawei Ascend W1 will arrive at MediaWorld at some point between March 7 and 24.

The odd thing is that Huawei Ascend W1 seems to be the better device on paper, though it costs much less than the Lumia 620.

For example, the Ascend W1 is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, while the Lumia 620 features a slightly lower 1GHz dual-core CPU.

Furthermore, Huawei smartphone sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display while Nokia’s device comes with a slightly smaller 3.8-inch ClearBlack display.

On the other hand, Lumia 620 packs 8GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB), while the Ascend W1 has only 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

Each of the two Windows Phone 8 smartphones comes packed with a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
