Nokia India introduced the new Lumia series of Windows Phone 8 handsets a few weeks ago, but the Lumia 620’s availability was delayed.

It’s unclear why the device’s release was postponed, but it may have something to do with high demand in emerging markets.

Last week, several Indian retailers started taking pre-orders for Nokia Lumia 620 and stated that the smartphone would hit shelves around March 12.

However, it appears that Nokia decided to put it on sale a bit earlier. UnleashthePhones reports the Lumia 620 is now available for purchase at Nokia Online Store for only Rs 15,000 outright, which is about $275 / €210. Check it out here.

For the time being, the yellow and black color versions of Lumia 620 are not available for purchase, but customers will be able to choose from other variants, such as: magenta, cyan, white and green.

The Lumia 620 is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 handset launched by Nokia, but that will change as soon as Lumia 520 arrives on the market. The latter has been recently spotted in Germany with a €200/$260 no-term price attached to it.

Customers in India who are thinking the Lumia 620 would make a nice purchase should know the smartphone offers more than decent features.

The smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

On the inside, Lumia 620 packs 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card. Users will also receive 7GB of free cloud storage via SkyDrive.

The device sports a 3.8-inch ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display, as well as 5-megapixel rear photo snapper and VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the phone is powered by a 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 330 hours of standby time or up to 15 hours of talk time (10 hours in 3G mode).
